Free State Stars goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has said it will be erroneous for fans to assume the first-choice spot in the Ghana goalkeeper’s department has been decided ahead of the World Cup.
The 2009 Under-20 World Cup winner argues that since that is the prerogative of coach Kwesi Appiah no one should rule him out, despite a keen competition from favourites Fatau Dauda and Adams Kwarasey.
“Ghana has a lot of good goalkeepers but the coach is the only man to make a decision of his final three for Brazil,” Allsports quoted the 24-year-old.
“Fatau and Adams are world class goalkeepers and so am I. We all have to impress the coach to make our claim for the World Cup and this is where I believe I can be the number one in Brazil.”
Agyei added: “I have been training hard and I believe I have what it takes to be a success at the World Cup if given the chance.”
Agyei has made five appearances for the Black Stars since he graduated from the Black Satellites and was part of the Ghana squad at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
