Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu on Republic Day (Wednesday July 1) called on the National Chief Imam Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu at his Palace at Fadaman in Accra.
The Udinese man presented some food items to the Moslem cleric for his 30-day fasting program as well as his (Badu) club jersey as a special souvenir.
He told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, “It dawned on me to call on the Moslem leader as he leads our Moslem brothers to embark on this holy exercise.
“Nothing works without prayers, so I thought it prudent to encourage him in this fasting period. Definitely, he will not be praying for himself and family alone, he will extend it to the entire nation, and as a citizen, I decided to visit and seek his blessings as well.
“The items were to urge him on to take the exercise to a successful end. I know he is a football fan. There have been times he prayed with the Black Stars through Sulley; that was the reason I presented my jersey as well,” said Badu.
Badu, currently holidaying in Accra since arriving home from Italy for international duty, has embarked on many charity projects on the quiet.
Meanwhile, Badu, who captained the Black Stars against Stephen Appiah XI in the latter’s farewell game in Accra last Saturday, has been linked with an English club for a fee close to £6m.
