The Ghana Football Association has confirmed Ivorian striker Ahmed Toure has officially requested for his switch of allegiance to play for Ghana.

Toure, 24, named most valuable player of the 2010/2011 Ghana Premier League season, is ready to commit his international future to the Black Stars.

Paper work on his switch is set to begin but the FA has confirmed the receipt of an official request from the exhilarating forward on his nationality status.

“We have received an official letter from Ahmed Toure. We will begin the process and see if he can play for Ghana,” Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi told Accra-based Happy FM.

Toure, on a second stint with Asante Kotoko, has expressed all delight to hear the GFA will work on his switch.

“I am very happy about this. I have made a decision to play for Ghana and I am happy they are going to work on it,” he said.

“I am not the first Ivorian to play for another country. Stephane Sessegnon is an Ivorian but he plays for Benin.”
