Berekum Chelsea center-back Wilson Akakpo said he has no intention of moving from his club despite interests from the likes of Ebusua Dwarfs, Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC.

The defender who joined Berekum Chelsea from a First Division outfit Hotsteel FC last season made his debut for the club in the second round of the Ghana Glo premier league making eleven appearances. His contribution to Chelsea in the just ended Glo Premier League has pleased the hearts of many Chelsea supporters earning him the accolade “the last barrier”.

Some connoisseurs have even described his partnership with Paul Aidoo at the central defense as one of the best central pair in the country. Using his height and strength to his advantage, he formed an iron clad of defense with Eric Agyemang, Alfred Arthur as well as Paul Aidoo and this attracted the attention of the Local Black stars technical handlers as coach Dauda Lutterodt named him in his preliminary squad.

This notwithstanding, the strong defender said he was still looking up to an improved performance as the Ghana Glo Premier League resumes for another season. Akakpo pointed out that his intention is to help the former Ghana League Champions to win the domestic top flight in the new season as well as gain call-up into the national team.“I am aware that Hearts, Dwarfs and Medeama want to sign me but I have no intentions of moving now as I am committed to Berekum chelsea”.

The 20-year-old said. “The frequent link to all these clubs is not affecting me in any way as my aim is to help Chelsea get to the top again and also break into the Black Stars set up.”
