Ghanaian defender Jerry Akaminko starred for all 90 minutes as his club Manisaspor claimed a 2-0 win over Mersin ?dmanyurdu on Sunday and he is counting on their first win in 5 matches to propel Manisaspor beat the drop in the Turkey top flight.

Akaminko and Maninsaspor started the season brightly and with a determination to finish within the Top 4. But their season has turned upside down and even Sunday’s victory and the three points it raked in have not helped them move out of the relegation zone as they sit 16th with 32 points on the 18-team table.

But Akaminko is hoping Manisaspor can now go on and do well in the remaining four fixtures to at least avoid falling down into the second tier league. “Our prayer now is to survive in the league, we had a good start in the first round but only God knows what is happening with us.

“This is only our second win out of 16 matches which will tell you how difficult we are having now,” a perplexed Akaminko exclusively told ALL SPORTS from his Turkey base.

The former Heart of Lions captain added: “It doesn't mean we are playing bad or there's no teamwork but we end up losing match after match, its only God who knows and only one motivating us now.

“We have 4 games to end the season now. Nothing is lost, all we are doing now is keeping de faith and hope alive to win one game after the other to secure our league status which I know we can.”
