Former national Olympic team star Jerry Akaminko who is also keen on a call-up to the Black Stars has told 90 MINUTES that he is one of the biggest fans of the national team even if he is not in the team.

Akaminko who is back holidaying in Ghana after a gruelling season in Turkey’s second tier league, believes the best players available have been selected by coach Milovan Rajevac, for which reason there is no need to worry if he wasn’t part of the party.

“Of course I’m disappointed not to be in the team because like everyone, I will also love to play for the national team. “But I believe the players who have been selected are very good and will do the business for Ghana. There are so many World Cups ahead and I know if there’s life, then my time will surely come,” he stated.

Akaminko was a regular for Orduspor in the Turkish second division league, helping the club to qualify for the group stage of next season’s Turkish Cup even though they couldn’t realise the dream to earn promotion.

The classy defender is already looking ahead to next season with promotion a prime target. “We didn’t start the season well but the end was very good for us. “The dream for next season is to qualify for the Super League and I know we can make it. That’s the dream of everyone at the club and we hope by God’s grace we can make it,” Akaminko told 90 MINUTES.
