Akim Oda, 14th Aug. 1999 - The Birim South District Deputy Co-ordinating Director, Mr Kwadwo Akuamoah-Boateng, says the government intends to make computer training part of the education of all school-going children.

Mr Akuamoah-Boateng, who was speaking at the first graduation day of Uniworld Computer Technology at Akim Oda on Sunday, explained that this is because computer literacy has become an important requirement for employment.

He commended the managing director and principal of the institution, Mr Alamezie Siemeon Ikoku, for the initiative in establishing the school in the area. This, he said, had helped demystify computer training hitherto regarded as the preserve of urban centres. Mr Akuamoah-Boateng reminded the students that, with hard work, dedication and commitment, the future would be bright for them.

The District Director of Education, Ms Felicia Duku, who presided, appealed to the students to take advantage of all opportunities available to them.

She urged them to use the established channels of communication like the Students' Representative Council to seek redress for their grievances rather than take to the streets.
