Asante Kotoko head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has jumped to the defence of striker Songne Yacouba by saying goalscoring is not an exclusive responsibility of strikers in his team.
The Kotoko striker has yet to score in the CAF Confederation this season even though he has given decent performances.
Akonnor was reacting to the lack of goals from his star striker in the CAF Confederation Cup following the team’s 1-0 loss at Al-Hilal on Sunday.
The Burkina international attracted attention from Kotoko fans after scoring 10 goals in all competitions before the club entered Africa but he is yet to open his account in the competition.
“What is a striker. In my team, I don’t duel on strikers. Everyone can score for the team.” Akonnor said on Sunday.
“We have good strikers but today they were quiet.” He added.
