Black Meteors skipper Yaw Yeboah has revealed he was told by head coach of the senior men national team, Charles Kwabla Akonnor told him he was not ready for a call-up to the Black Stars.

Yaw Yeboah, 23, joined English side Manchester City after graduating from the esteemed Right to Dream Academy in 2014 but he never broke into the first team of the Cityzens embarking on series of loan spells before eventually departing to Numancia on permanent basis and now plays for Celta Vigo B.

The gifted schemer made a name for himself at youth level and managed to score a Messi-esque goal against Algeria to qualify Ghana to the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.

After making his debut for the Black Stars in a one nil loss in a preparatory game to Namibia last year, Yeboah is yet to receive a call-up to the national team.

When quizzed about his absence in Coach C. K. Akonnor’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations double header, Yeboah told Kumasi FM,

“It wasn’t too surprising I wasn’t invited for the AFCON qualifier against Sudan,I had the chance to talk to coach CK Akonnor and he told me I’m not ready for the Blackstars.

“After joining Celta Vigo B. I’m waiting to play in the La Liga and so far I have been playing a couple of games and also gotten the opportunity to train with the first team.

“He feels my confidence is low but he knows me very well and even coached me at ‘Right to Dream Academy’. We have a good relationship but I feel he decides who to call, maybe in the next call up I will be ready.

“As a young player and as a Ghanaian, I always want to represent my country at every level. For now I’m done with the youth level and looking up to a Blackstars call up” he concluded.
