The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent a congratulatory message to the Black Stars for securing a spot in the round of 16 at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The four-time champions inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday to qualify for the knockout stage as Group F winners.
Second half strikes from Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey ensured the Black Stars remained on course to end Ghana’s 37 year wait for a title.
Akufo-Addo in a post on Twitter applauded the team for finishing as Group winners and also wished them the best of luck against Tunisia in the next round.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars for their victory over Guinea Bissau and topping Group F. Best of luck in the Round of 16 match against Tunisia. Let’s end the AFCON trophy drought this year.
