Ghana Black Starlets have arrived in Port Gentil ahead of their crunchy final clash against Mali on Sunday in the U17 African Youth Championship in Gabon.
The Starlets are expected to end Ghana’s 18 years run in the tournament without the U17 AYC trophy when they take on the defending champions in the glittering encounter.
Ghana finished at the top of the table in the group stages after they bagged nine goals in two matches at the ongoing tournament. The Black Starlets only failed to score in their last two encounters against Guinea and Niger respectively.
In 2015, Mali defeated South Africa 2-0 to lift the trophy for the first time.
Ghana has won the U17 AYC on two occasions, first winning the maiden edition in 1995 followed with another in 1999.
