Accra, Feb. 18, GNA - Mrs Elizabeth Mills-Robertson, Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has called on the youth not to allow themselves to be used in creating chaos and confusion in their communities.

She said they should rather join hands to form vibrant Watch-dog Committees to help the Police to combat crime which is on the ascendancy in most communities.

Mrs Mills-Robertson made the call in an address read on her behalf at the launch of the Al-Husna Martial Arts, a new sporting event in Accra on Wednesday.

The sport is aimed at creating awareness among the youth on the need for them to live moral lives and to also equip them with defensive skills which would aid them in defending themselves in times of crimes. The Acting IGP thanked the International Taekwondo Federation of Ghana for initiating the programme and gave the assurance that the Ghana Police Service would do everything to ensure the success of the event. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, National Chief Imam who was the Guest of Honour also called on the youth to eschew all forms of nefarious activities and champion the cause of brotherliness for the benefit of the development of heir communities and the country. A competition would be organised by the Al-Hunsa Martial Arts for various groups which is expected to kick-off in Accra in June this year. The competition would be sponsored by Ultimate Supplies Limited, Puma United Kingdom and Syriatex Limited.
