The Ghanaian scored and laid on one as the Villains' run continued on Saturday

Ghana midfielder Albert Adomah was on top form as he scored and assisted to help Aston Villa to a 3-1 win over Cardiff City in the Championship on Saturday.

Jordan Ayew also featured but was overshadowed by Adomah’s sizzling display as the 28-year-old opened his Villains account.

The wideman fired the hosts ahead in the 24th minute when he finished off Jordan Amavi’s brilliant solo surge to score his first goal for Steve Bruce’s men.

But Villa’s lead was short lived as Rickie Lambert equalized for the Bluebirds four minutes later.

The Ghanaian went from goalscorer to provider when his cross was converted by Ivorian forward Jonathan Kodjia in the 39th minute.

The strike was Kodjia’s seventh of the campaign and he is now Villa's top-scoring talisman.

Cardiff were later reduced to 10 men as Lee Peltier was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge inside the box which saw Villa awarded a penalty. Adomah’s replacement and Benin international Rudy Gestede made no mistake from the spot to see Villa walk out 3-1 victors.

Villa moved up to 11th on the table whilst Cardiff’s woes were worsened.

This is the kind of performance that could well put Adomah’s name in the hat for selection as Avram Grant’s troubled Black Stars are on the lookout for prominent goalscorers heading into the Africa Cup of Nations.
