Accra, Sept 23, GNA - FIFA Referee, Alex Quartey has been selected by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to handle the finals of the Special Knockout match between Real Tamale United (RTU) and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sport Stadium on Wednesday, October 6. A statement signed by Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, Administrative Manger of GHALCA copied to GNA Sports named FIFA referees J. K Yeboah and Nick Djomoah as his assistants whilst Mr O. Osamquaye, a Class One Referee acts as the fourth official.

The match has being scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium instead of RTU's traditional home grounds, the Tamale Kaladan Park on financial grounds and would have Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi, Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association and an Executive member of GHALCA as the Match Commissioner.

The date for the second leg has been on and off due to the tight nature of the new league calendar of the Professional League Board (PLB), organisers of the league which has to be completed on time for the release of the clubs to represent Ghana at continental campaigners next season to meet the deadline of its submission to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The first match was played at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on Sept 16 and Kotoko took full advantage of their home grounds to come back from behind to beat RTU 2-1 after the visitors had taken an early lead. The special Knockout tournament was organised by GHALCA to keep the Premier league clubs busy during the three months break to facilitate the preparations of the Black Meteors for the just ended Olympic games and other international commitments of the senior national team, the Black Stars.
