Ghana Premier League board chief Welbeck Abra-Appiah has announced he will quit his post at the end of the season.

The experienced banker has been at the helm of the PLB for the past ten years but has decided to move on after distinguishing himself.

Abra-Appiah has been largely credited with the transformation of the current format of the top-flight league despite been rocked with problems.

He has confirmed he will not be seeking a renewal of his mandate at the end of the current campaign.

“Yes, I will step down at the end of the season. It’s been ten-years and I think it’s time for me to allow someone to continue from where we have left off,” he told Accra-based Atinka FM

“So I guess anyone interested should start lobbying for the position.

“It’s not been all gloomy as others want us to believe, we have chalked some successes and at the appropriate time, we’ll make the necessary disclosure.”

The highly-respected businessman decided against resigning in 2011 after he criticized a disciplinary ruling between Ashantigold and Mighty Jets.
