Ghana’s Ambassador to Mauritius Kwesi Ahwoi has applauded the Black Stars for qualifying to the Cup of Nations tournament.
The Black Stars will be making their 21st appearance in Africa’s flagship football event after posting a 2-0 win over their counterparts from Mauritius on Sunday afternoon, thanks to two second half goals from stand-in captain Andre Ayew and Christian Atsu.
Coach Avram Grant and his charges have thus qualified to the competition with a game to spare.
Ahwoi, former Minister of Interior who also doubles as the Ambassador for Lesotho, Seychelles, Comoros and Swaziland is excited with the team’s qualification to Gabon 2017.
“I am very happy, I will like to congratulate the players for putting up this performance, in fact we showed them that we are a real football nations,” he said after the game.
“Evan apart from the fact that we won, we also outplayed them showing the kind of team we are.
“I will like to congratulate them for qualifying to the AFCON ones again. I believe every Ghanaian will be happy with that.”
Ghana with thus be making a seventh successive appearance at the Cup of Nations.
