Khartoum, Sudan, Feb. 24, GNA - A member of the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Amoako has singled out the unanimity and oneness of members of the Committee as the 91secret' to Kw= esi Nyantakyi's capture of the CAF Executive Committee seat.

Nyantakyi garnered an overwhelming 34 votes against 19 by his main competitor Anjorin Moucharafou of Benin during the elections held at the CA= F 33rd Ordinary General Assembly in the Sudanese capital, but Amoako told GNA Sports in Khartoum that the GFA Executive Committee deserves much of the credit. "We all know what happened before Kwesi (Nyantakyi) got here. I beli= eve we have to praise the GFA Executive Committee because we stuck to our groun= d and forever Ghanaians will remember this day.

"We stood our ground by telling all powers that be that this is the man we have chosen to represent us, we stand by him and we have done it and succeeded." Amoako described the whole process as tedious whilst counting on the experiences during several elections back home amongst the contributing factors for Ghana's victory.

"We have learnt a lot during the past few days and what it takes to be successful in these endeavours as far as CAF elections are concerned. The power blocs are very powerful and you need to break them.

"Coming from a democratic country like Ghana with experience in campaigning for elections, we applied all the tricks and we made it." Amoako, a member of the GFA delegation that attended the General Assembly described the feat as a big plus for Ghana football. "This is a big victory for Ghana football. We are coming of age and I'm very happy that at long last a representative from Ghana has joined the CAF Executive Committee."

Nyantakyi was elected alongside Zambia legend Kalusha Bwalya, Leodegar Tenga of Tanzania whilst Tarek Bouchamaoui of Tunisia and Omari Constant of DR Congo were elected unopposed.
