Ivorian national Vivian Kuame, with a 161 gross score, won the first position in the ladies scratch version of the competition which was sponsored by MTN, followed by Felicity Okyei Gyeabuor and Mary Kronborg.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, presented the glittering trophies to the deserving winners. Golfers that lived up to expectation also took home prizes such as DSTV decoders and other souvenirs.

In a speech, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said football was not the only way to sporting glory, noting that there were wider prospects in other sporting disciplines such as golf.

Otumfuo, therefore, urged the state and corporate institutions to develop lesser known sports including golf which have health and other advantages for the human body.

President of Royal Gold Club, John Owusu, debunked assertions that golf was a sport for the affluent in society, wishing the Asantehene a happy 64th birthday and 15 years on the throne.
