Accra, June 1, GNA - The national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, have line up a training tour of the United Kingdom in July ahead of the impending 3rd Cup of African Nations for Amputee Football. The Ghanaians will pitch their strength against their British counterparts to fine-tune their preparations for the continental tournament scheduled for 15-25 October, 2011 in Accra. Francis Adjetey Sowah, President of Ghana Amputee Football Federation (GAFF) who announced this during the media launch of the tournament said plans are far advanced with their British counterparts expressing their desire to host the Ghanaian team. He said the tour is aimed towards realizing the 91host and win' of the Black Challenge as far as the tournament is concerned. The GAFF President added that Amputee Football has come of age and his outfit is prepared to reinforce their status as the best team on the continent. Meanwhile, Angola, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria and Sierra Leone have confirmed their participation in the 12-team tournament. Others expected are Algeria, DR Congo, Kenya, Mali, Rwanda and South Africa. Ghana were winners of the maiden edition held in Sierra Leone in 2007 but missed out on the second edition two years later due to financial constraints. Liberia are the reigning champions after winning the 2009 edition on home soil.
