Ghanaian sports journalist Dan Kweku Yeboah says he will be over the moon should embattled GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi be stripped of his position.

Mr. Nyantakyi, who has officially been charged with defrauding by false pretense after it was revealed in an Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s investigation that he used the president’s name to solicit for bribes from supposed potential investors is still at post, a situation many have raised concerns about.

With social media buzzing with opinions about the scandal and his subsequent arrest, the GFA president has come out to describe the media publication as bad publicity.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Sports Editor Daniel Oduro, Mr. Yeboah, a staunch critic of the GFA president strongly suggested that Mr. Nyantakyi be relieved of his post.

He argued that, while the country may suffer some major embarrassments due to the GFA President's countless international appointments including being appointed Vice President of the Confederation of African Football and a member of the FIFA Council, his image has been too tainted to remain the GFA President.

“When it comes to him (Nyantakyi) quitting the local scene, I have no pity for him because next year will be fifteen years since he appeared on the scene as acting FA president and as president. I think it has been long overdue and he has over stayed his welcome. Even Ohene Djan and Kwame Nkrumah who won independence spent six years in office. So I don’t see why he should still want more. What will hurt is his international appointment. If not for anything at all, they will say Kwesi Nyantakyi of Ghana so if he will lose that one, then I pity him,” he noted.
