Andre Ayew has brushed aside calls that he must be given the Black Stars captaincy to lead the team to the 2017 Afcon, insisting Asamoah Gyan is his captain and they work together as a team.
Reports emerged in the local media that the Swansea City star must be given the mantle of leadership to lead the team to the Africa showpiece, but the deputy Black Stars captain insists those are negative calls.
“I am the deputy skipper of the team, and my captain is Asamoah Gyan, and we have been working together in harmony.
“He calls me and I call him even when we are with our clubs. We work together as a team and our relationship has been fantastic.
“He can’t do it alone, and I can’t do it alone either. We need each other.
“I support him and hopefully when he is fully fit, we will get going,” the Swansea City star noted.
