Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew revealed his ambition to become Olympique Marseille captain one day.
Andre scored a hat-trick in the incredible 5-4 victory over French champions Lille last week in the Super Cup played in Morocco.
The 21-year-old has been a cult figure since returning to the Stade Velodrome last season after loan spells at Lorient and Arles Avignon.
He was voted Marseille’s Player of the Year at the end of last season’s campaign and he is relishing a leadership role in future.
“When I see a young player like Mamadou Sakho captaining Paris Saint-Germain it has an effect on me. One day, maybe, it will happen for me at Marseille,” Ayew said.
“It’s a dream I have at the back of my mind. To be captain at the club where you cameup through the ranks would be beautiful.”
His leadership qualities are not in doubt after guiding Ghana to win the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
