Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew scored in the French Cup in the 3-3 draw with Grenoble after extra time on Sunday, but could not save his side Olympique Marseille from crashing out of the knock-out competition 5-4 on penalties.
The 25-year-old, who has been named in the Black Stars 26-man squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, struck in the 98th minute to give Marseille a 3-2 lead but Grenoble’s Selim Bengriba equalized to force the game into extra-time.
Marseille’s elimination means Andre Ayew will not be able to increase his goals tally in the competition, though the winger netted his first goal of the French Cup at the weekend.
