Black Stars deputy captain, Andre Ayew has thanked all who supported him in his quest to win the 2015 BBC African Footballer of the Year despite losing out to Ivory Coast and Manchester City’s Yaya Toure.
Andre, who has been in blistering form for Swansea City despite the club’s poor run expressed profound appreciation to everyone who put in an effort in a bid to help him win the coveted award which eluded him all the same.
“We are grateful for the support you gave us in our quest to win the BBC African Footballer of the Year. Even though we didn’t win, we thank you for your support. #Ayew.” Andre said through his communications team.
Ayew won the award in 2011 and was looking at getting a second bite at the glory after putting up a sterling performance at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea where he emerged as the top scorer of the tournament.
