Angry woman threatens to drag NSA to 'Auntie Naa' for making her pay GH¢150 to watch Ghana vs Sudan game

A disappointed Ghanaian football fan who allegedly paid GH¢150 to witness the Black Stars match against Sudan has threatened to drag the National Sports Authority to the Auntie Naa court of public opinion for what she deems to be an act of robbery.

Speaking to GhanaWeb after Ghana’s game against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10, 2024, the incensed woman said that she had to part with the money as authorities at the gate assured her of access to the VIP upper section of the stadium.

The lady indicated that contrary to the promise, she was made to sit in the ‘popular stand’ section of the stadium.

Her anger and determination to seek justice are further fueled by the failure of the Black Stars to pick up a win against Sudan.

“I actually paid GH¢150, and they asked me to go and sit in the popular stand. I don't have anything to say; I just need my money back. Had Ghana scored, I would have been okay, but since we drew, I need my money. They should bring my money, else I will take them to Auntie Naa,” she said.

Per the statement released by the NSA ahead of the game, the popular stand seats cost GH¢30, while the centre-line seats were valued at GH¢50.

The VIP wing section costs GH¢100, and the VIP upper section required an amount of GH¢150 for access.

The Black Stars drew goalless with Sudan in their third match at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10, 2024.

Antoine Semenyo had a couple of chances but failed to utilize them despite the creativity the team had in the game.

Captain Mohammed Kudus played a pivotal role in creating chances but was unable to score with the opportunities he had despite Ghana dominating the game.

Sudan, headed by coach Kwasi Appiah, played defensively for most of the game as their tactics worked to perfection, securing a draw.

Ghana now has two points, lying in third position in Group F of the qualifiers as the team’s chances become slimmer.

Angola is leading the table with six points, followed by Sudan in second position with four points.

The Black Stars will face Sudan away from home in Libya in the return leg on October 15, 2025.
