Accra, Aug. 13, GNA - Francis Anquandah and Kojo Hasford became the proud winners of the Second National Open Chess championship played at the North Ridge Hotel in Accra on Saturday.

The two scored four and-a-half points each from five matches to beat a field of 50 participants drawn from across the country. The second spot was taken by Peter Anane Nsiah, William Addy and the =91Legon Champion' John Worlanyo Loh with each of them scoring four points.

Mr Edward Thompson, Tournament Director of the Ghana Chess Association said the association organised the event to revive its activities which had been dormant for the past four years. He appealed to corporate bodies and organisations to help develop the sport especially among the youth in schools and colleges.
