Ghana striker John Antwi scored his first goal for Al Ahly in the CAF Confederation Cup to lead the Red Devils to a 1-0 win over Espérance in Tunis.
The 23-year-old finished off a Ramadan Sobhy cross to put the visitors onto the strong foot in the 6th minute.
In the second half, Antwi powered home a header off the crossbar, in what he thought was his second goal. However, the assistant referee flagged for offside, denying Antwi a much-deserved second goal.
The win sent the Red Devils to the top of group A, one point ahead of Etoile du Sahel, who have yet to play third-place Stade Malien for the match-day.
A week after scoring four goals in Al Ahly’s 13-0 dismantling of El Gouna in the Egypt Cup, Antwi recorded one more, his first in African competitions, to give Al Ahly a 1-0 win over Espérance in Tunis.
