Ghana and Anzhi defender Jonathan Mensah
Ghana and new Anzhi Makhachkala man Jonathan Mensah has revealed the Russian side showed great desire for his signature and that was why he had to turn down several offers to sign for them.
The former Ashanti Gold defender signed a two and half year deal with the Russian side and has quickly joined them in their winter training camp in Spain.
Mensah a key member of Ghana's Black Stars says he turned down other offers because the desire from struggling Anzhi Makhachkala was too strong to turn down.
“This is a new challenge a bigger one for me, from the previous league I was playing. This league is a competitive one after speaking with colleagues who play in the Russian league. Anzhi really showed massive interest and therefore decided to join them”, he told Starr Sports.
“I am very happy for their choice and with them now, I will play my best for them”, he added.
