Ghana international Appiah has been a free agent ever since he negotiated his release from Turkish side Fenerbache in the summer.

It was revealed earlier in the month that English trio Arsenal, Portsmouth and West Ham United were all competing for the signature of the ex-Juventus man, who spoke of his desire to play in what he called the 'best league in the world'.

However, for differing reasons all those clubs have now reportedly withdrawn from the race, with one factor believed to be Appiah's demands for a £60,000-a-week pay packet, despite the fact his fitness remains a worry.

And although Blackburn Rovers' recently reported interest may save Appiah's hopes of playing in England, the powerful midfielder has admitted his dream may now not become reality. There is also interest from clubs in Germany, according to Appiah, but wage demands are again said to be causing problems with interested parties.

One thing Appiah was clear on was his determination to find a new club sooner, rather than later.

"I would still like to play in the Premier League, but I don't know if that will be possible now," Appiah is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"I also have some German clubs interested in me, but we are far apart in financial terms," he added.
"I am still in training and I am keeping my body in shape. I have told these clubs I am ready for action.
"I will find a new club very soon."
Appiah has over 50 caps for Ghana and is the two-time winner of his nation's player of the year award.
