Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has lavished praises on midfielder Michael Essien.
The Black Stars coach noted the Chelsea player’s “fantastic attitude” on and off the pitch is good for his side ahead of the clash against seven-time Africa champions Egypt.
The ‘Bison’ made a return to the four-time continental champions last month after a three-year hiatus.
“Michael for me, is always been a good player,” the Ghana FA website quoted Appiah. “I have always had confidence in him. The good thing about him is his attitude, not only on the pitch but off the pitch is fantastic.”
Appiah added: “To have him in the team, when he decided to come back, I was one of the happiest. As to his performance, I know he can do much than he did. He is an exceptional player and I have always said that Essien is a player every coach will love to have in his team.”
The Chelsea midfielder is expected to play a major role for Ghana as they prepare to face the Pharaohs in a 2014 World Cup play-off on October 15 in Kumasi.
