Kwesi Appiah dashed out of the changing room at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday turning down all interview requests after watching the Black Stars stroll to a 3-0 win in a test match against Prampram United.
Though happy with the progress of his team's preparations towards their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying against Lesotho on 1 June, the Ghana coach was heading for another big engagement, this time in the Church.
Appiah who has in weeks past talked about the honour done by the Ghana Football Association for appointing him the head coach of the Black Stars was again left savouring a special moment.
A further honour came his way, as he made it to the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra, where his mates from his alma mater, Opoku Ware Secondary School were celebrating Mass in his honour.
The service attended by his peers, members of the football family and friends was to seek God's blessings for him to make his reign a success.
The Black Stars coach, joined by members of his backroom staff including assistant coach Maxwell Konadu, made it to the religious service which had Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle making a brief attendance to counsel and pray for Kwesi Appiah.
Appiah, who is being considered by the school for mentorship, expressed gratitude for the honour, prayers and the positive thoughts shared with him by all who were present.
Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, with school number O123, graduated from Opoku Ware where he had his secondary school education in 1979.
