Appiah won’t call up Muntari, Kevin until suspension is lifted

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he will not invite Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng back to the Black Stars until their indefinite suspension is lifted.

The influential duo have been banned from the Ghana national team for engaging in acts of indiscipline during the 2014 World Cup.

Muntari who plays for AC Milan physically abused a high ranking Ghana FA official while Boateng has been punished for allegedly insulting the coach.

Muntari has since refused to comment on the altercation.

Kevin-Prince Boateng on the other hand has said a lot to the German press throwing allegations at Ghana FA officials and the coach to primarily claim innocence.

The GFA meanwhile placed an indefinite suspension on the duo who were sacked from the Ghana camp hours before facing Portugal in the final group match at the World Cup.

With some growing muted calls for the return of the influential duo, Appiah says they will not be considered for any international assignments unless the indefinite suspension placed on their heads are lifted.

“Sulley and Kevin have been suspended by the FA and until the suspension is lifted I will not consider them,” Appiah confirmed.

“I believe they deserved the suspension for what they did.

“But ultimately they are Ghanaians and cannot be left out of the team that belongs to Ghanaians.”

Sulley Muntari meanwhile is in Ghana with the intention of traveling to Kumasi to offer support to the Black Stars in their opening 2o15 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda on Saturday.
