REJUVENATED STRIKER of Asante Kotoko, Nana Arhin Duah is anticipating a recall to feature for the Black Stars.
The Kotoko striker, who was hit by a goal drought, a few months back, claims he has honed his rough edges in goal-scoring, and looks forward for another opportunity to exhibit his soccer prowess, in the Stars? fraternity.
?Featuring for the national team has been the dream of every striker, and so having found my scoring boots again, it behoves the management of the Stars to put me to test?, Nana told Guide Sports, in an exclusive interview.
Nana, whose two individual away goals redeemed the Stars from a, 1-3, humiliation at the hands of their Sierra Leonean counterparts, during the 2002 African Cup Qualifier, affirmed, he would give of his best, to help the nation, if recalled.
?If I do get the opportunity I will grab it, and allow my feet do the talking.? During the course of the just-ended gt Premiership, Nana took soccer fans by surprise, powering Kotoko to victory, whenever his side was in a tight corner. But, he attributed his scoring form to the Almighty God, hard-work, as well as his head coach, Emmanuel Afranie?s special teachings, which catapulted his scoring flair.
?Within the short period Coach Afranie took charge of Kotoko, he acted as a father to me, and I have been humble to him, putting his instructions into actions?, the Kotoko attacker disclosed.
Arhin Duah had his exit from the Stars, after pulling a muscle in a World Cup Qualifier, against the Stallions of Burkina Faso, in Ouagadougou, last year. Nana was poached from Obuasi Goldfields, now Ashantigold SC, by the Herbert Mensah Administration of Kotoko, during the 2000 Premier league season.
However, even though he scored important goals for the Porcupine Warriors, varying degrees of injuries stalled the promising career of the striker, but he was still considered one of the best marksmen on the domestic front.
And when the injuries disappeared, halfway, through the 2004 season, he was affected by goal drought syndrome, a situation described by many soccer-mad fans, and analysts, as ?mysterious?.
Now, the stocky marksman is showing gratitude to Almighty God for taking off his burden, to reward him with scoring talents, which led to his nickname, ?Nana a oboa nipa?, meaning, Nana, who offers help to mankind. Ever since Arhin Duah re-discovered his scoring boots in the latter stages of this season?s gt Premiership, he has not looked back.
Last Sunday, November 27, 2005, Nana remained Kotoko?s goals architect, when his side pranced to a 2-1 win, over Power FC, in a friendly battle, at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, in Accra.
Throughout the game, Nana showcased his soccer antics, proving he was in a new era of goal-scoring.
He really demonstrated his scoring aptitude, with a marvellous equaliser, and further assisted teammate, Ali Ouadragou, to seal victory for the Porcupine Warriors.
