Arsenal chief denies Golden City Park is violence prone

Douglas Effah, General Secretary of relegation threatened GLO Premier League club Berekum Arsenal, has vehemently denied several reports pointing to the violence meted out by fans of the club to visiting teams during league matches at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

This follows reports of an attack that was launched on the CEO of Tema Youth Wilfred Osei Parma by fans of Berekum Arsenal during a Glo Ghana Premier League Match Day 21 fixture on March 28 which Arsenal won 1-0.

The impression being created is that fans of Berekum Arsenal are hooligans and this could affect patronage of the league matches at that particular venue. But Mr. Effah insists other club officials have painted the wrong impression of the Golden City Park.

“When teams like Asante Kotoko or Hearts of Oak come to Berekum, and they see such a huge crowd, at times they are shaken by it. It’s not a hostile crowd but it is an enthusiastic crowd supporting the club in that small park,” Dougals Effah told PRAVDA Sports.

He added, soothingly: “Any small thing you get Hearts and Kotoko complaining. Have they seen any bandage on anyone's hand at the Golden City Park before? So I always say that clubs are painting the Golden City Park black by giving it a bad name.”
