The President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt E.S. Okraku has named Asamoah Gyan and Abedi Pele as the two most distinguished players he saw play in the national team colors.

Asamoah Gyan is Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals having represented the Black Stars since 2003.

He is also Africa’s leading scorer at the FIFA World cup having been present at three tournaments (2006, 2010 & 2014).

Abedi Pele on the other hand was a member of Ghana’s 1982 Africa Cup of Nations winning squad and a three time African footballer of the year winner.

He also is the first Ghanaian player to win the prestigious UEFA champions league trophy with Olympique Marseillle.

He remains the last Ghanaian player to be crowned Africa’s Best and is often highly regarded at both national, continent and at the global level.

Both players captained the national team at some stages in their careers.

Speaking in an interview with Daniel Oduro on GhanaWeb’s Sports Check, Kurt Okraku mentioned the duo of Gyan and Pele as the best he’s ever seen play for the Black Stars.

He went further however to name Abedi Pele as the best overall.

“I will just give you two names who in my opinion (that I saw playing) have been fantastic,” Kurt Okraku said.

“One is the general captain of the Black Stars the Baby Jet (Asamoah Gyan) and the other one; the only one, the Maestro (Abedi Pele).
