Kamil Cira, agent of Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan, has confirmed that the striker will arrive in Turkey this week to finalise a season-long loan move to Besiktas.
The 30-year-old forward, who joined Shanghai SIPG from Al Ain last year, did not impress in the Chinese Super League due to injuries, prompting the club’s record signing of Brazilian Hulk in June.
Gyan was previously linked with a move back to England, with Chelsea and West Ham United leading the chase for his signature.
"Many clubs were chasing Asamoah Gyan on loan but for now, he will play in Turkey" Kamil told Kickgh.com
"Asamoah will arrive in Turkey this week to complete Besiktas switch [after all parties agreed to the terms in the contract]" he added.
Gyan scored seven goals in 20 appearances and reports suggest that he has been dropped to train with the reserve team, one of the reasons why he is looking elsewhere for more playing time ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
