Black Stars striker Derek Asamoah has been linked with a move to Swindon Town.
Asamoah scored 10 goals for Shrewsbury Town last term and can play on the wing if called upon.
Swindon Town boss Paul Sturrock has made no secret of the fact he is out looking at buying, or signing a striker to help boost the clubs striking options whilst Barry Corr recovers from a back injury.
The 26-year-old Ghanaian is understood to have become a target for League One outfit Swindon as well as Nice, who play in France’s Ligue One. Reports suggest Asamoah featured for a Nice youth side last Friday against Nimes, although Shrewsbury Town officials will not confirm or decline those claims and the player was this morning unavailable. Manager Gary Peters is maintaining his usual policy of refusing to comment on transfer speculation.
Asamoah has spent time at Northampton Town, Lincoln City, Mansfield Town, Chester City and Shrewsbury scoring 39 goals in 214 appearances. Asamoah last featured for the Black Stars in their 4-1 win against Nigeria in London.
