Ghana midfield prodigy Kwadwo Asamoah has returned to his Italy base after the successful knee surgery in Barcelona last week.

The 20-year-old, who plays for Italian Serie A side Udinese, suffered the knee injury while training with his club two weeks ago.

He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee under the watchful eyes of the well-renowned knee specialist Professor Cugat in the Spanish city in mid-week.

Asamoah has now been allowed to return to his club where he will continue to recuperate and return to action within one month.

“The surgery went very well and I am now in Italy where I am being watched by my club’s doctors,” Asamoah told Ghanasoccernet.com.

“I expected to make a full recovery within one month as I am already seeing very positive signs from the leg.”

He will not be available for his club Udinese in their opening two matches of the Serie A as they play Parma and Sampdoria.

The 20-year-old, who was instrumental in the Black Stars assault on Mali and Sudan in June, is likely to be avaible vfor Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan next month.

Asamoah made a big impact in the second half of the Serie A season in 2008-09 and has now been touted as one of the top prospects in the peninsula.

Overall, he made 19 appearances and scored twice for the Zebrette, forming an excellent partnership with Gaetano D'Agostino and Gokhan Inler in the centre of the pitch.

The former Torino player will be on a 15 day program of physiotherapy, but will be out of action for 30 days in total.

He thus far has five caps and one goal for Ghana in his blossoming career.
