Public Relations Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kweku Ahenkorah has rubbished out reports suggesting that the club are ready to ship out seven players.
The Porcupine Warriors had a torrid season and after six matches played in the first round in the just ended league, the Warriors were on the 16th position.
Agitated supporters of the club started demanded for quick results but the management of the club asked David Duncan to step aside and was replaced by Michael Osei.
After losing to Ashgold at the Obusai Sports Stadium by 5:3 in the match day 29 fixture, defender for Kotoko, Samuel Kyere furiously alleged that his outfit played match of convenience with the Obuasi based club.
Ahead of the match, six players were suspended by the head coach of the club due to disciplinary reason and was reported that the club are ready to show those players the exit door but Kweku Ahenkorah says the club have not taken any decision to show any player the exit door.
“I think it is bit unfortunate because the management of the club has not decided to which players are to leave the club but we are still in consultation on what to do in the coming season.” Akhenkorah told Asempa Sports when he was quizzed if they have putting seven players on transfer.
“I was surprised to see the story suggesting that we are getting rid of seven players and even to the extent that the players that we are not ready to sell them, their names were included. I know people are expecting us to make some changes in the team because the season just ended but it is not true that we are putting seven players on transfer.
With GFA and PLB yet to bring out a date to start the 2016/17 season, quizzed if they will add some players to the squad, he said, “With no doubt, some players will leave and some will join the club but what I can say is that it is likely that four or five players will leave the club in terms of the players that we will recruits because I don’t think that the current crop of players are bad. We are also planning to promote two players from the academy to join the senior team, a striker and a defender.
“We have already planned to start our pre season training but the management and the technical team had a meeting and it has being agreed that time must be changed but we will inform the public if we do any changes.” He added.
