Asante Kotoko SC management member Nana Kwame Dankwah has called on supporters of the club to come to their aid to be able to pay a fine imposed on them by FIFA.

This is following transfer breaches against Tunisian powerhouse Espérance Sportive de Tunis when they signed Emmanuel Clottey in 2015.

Asante Kotoko have been fined a hefty amount of $240,000 for illegally signing the Ghanaian striker who was then a bonafide player of the Tunisian giants.

Asante Kotoko have until 10 May 2020 to pay the fine or face demotion from the Ghanaian top-tier.

In light of this, Dankwah has made a passionate appeal to Asante Kotoko supporters to assist financially in raising the money.

"Yes, we have received the FIFA notice, and we have to act on it," he told Asempa FM.

"I believe that as a Kotoko family which entails management and the supporters, we need to make sure that we support our leader Kwame Kyei, so that we can find a solution to this problem,"

"Let’s come together so that we find solutions on how are we going to pay this money."

Moreover, Dankwah also recounted how the Asante Kotoko supporters rescued the club from such heavy fines in the past.

"It has happened before, during Herbert Mensah’s time when Kotoko wrongfully dismissed Hans Dieter Schmidt, we were slapped with a huge fine."

"Dr. Sarpong was able to do an appeal for funds to raise money which was eventually topped up by management to clear the debt."

"So I will urge all of us to come together to help clear this current debt."
