Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko observed a minute silence for the club's former board member, Alhaji Salifu Abubakar, who was pronounced dead last week.
Alhaji Salifu Abubakar, who was known in football fraternity as 'Alhaji Njie', was reported to have passed on at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi last Wednesday after battling with a short illness.
And prior to the club's rescheduled MTN FA Cup quarterfinal encounter with high-flying second-tier side Nea Salamina, the club paid their last respect to their fallen former Chairman.
Alhaji Njie was appointed by the Asantehene to chair the Kumasi Asante Kotoko Interim Management Team (IMT) in 2005, with other members like Yamoah Ponkoh and Mr Yaw Gyasi.
He was also a member of the Kotoko Board under the chairmanship of the late PV Obeng.
The late Alhaji Njie will be buried in Kumasi on Thursday per Islamic customs.
