Asantehene's gold cup open kicks off in June

The Annual Asantehene's Gold Cup open Golf competition is scheduled to kick off in Kumasi from June 3 - 6, this year.

Dr. H. B. Asafu-Adjaye, President of the Kumasi Golf Club, said when members called on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace, that the three-day competition would attract both amateur and professional golfers from all over the country.

Dr. Asafu-Adjaye formally invited the Asantehene to grace the occasion with his presence and invited him to be the chief patron of the club.

This offer is in keeping with the long standing tradition existing between Manhyia Palace and the Club under which previous Asante Kings held the position of chief patron.

The club presented drinks and a ram to the Asantehene on his successful ascension to the Golden Stools.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu thanked the management and members of the club for the honour and spoke of plans to hold consultations with them with a view of exploring ways they could assist in the promotion of health and education in Ashanti.
