Ashanti Kotoko gets new Board of Directors

Kumasi, May 24, GNA - The Life Patron and Owner of Kumasi Ashanti Kotoko, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has appointed Dr Kofi Koduah Sarpong, a Financial Consultant as the Executive Chairman of the Club. An 11-member Board has also been put in place to take charge of developing and implementing a three-year strategy plan that would see the Club organised within the ambit the Ghana Companies Code. The appointments take immediate effect.

The other Board members are Mr Paul Adu-Gyamfi, a Legal Practitioner and former President of the Ghana Bar Association, Mr Emmanuel Asamoa Owusu-Ansah, politician and Legal Practitioner, Mr Kabral Blay-Amihere, Diplomat and Chairman of National Media Commission, Mr Ricky Kofi Boakye-Yiadom, Madam Agnes Osei, Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, CEO of Bahmed Travel and Tours, Mr Mike Twum Barimah and Alhaji Abu Lamin, business executives, and a representative of the Old Players' Association and National Circles'. The Board is further mandated to ensure that the Club is run on sound commercial lines and above all win trophies.

Mr Kofi Dua-Adonteng, Legal Practitioner and former Managing Director of Ghana Post has been appointed as Secretary to the Board. The Board is charged in the due course to appoint a management team to run the day-to-day affairs of the Club.

The Asantehene in an address to the Board Members and some members of the Interim Management team at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Monday, advised the Board Members to work in unity to raise the image of the Club. He urged them to elect a member who would be based in Kumasi to cater properly for the development of the Club.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu noted with concern that personal interest and power struggle had been some of factors impeding against the progress of the Club and advised that they use their expertise to work against all such developments.

Mr Sarpong thanked the Asantehene for the confidence imposed in them and said the assignment given them even though is a onerous one but with the support from all they would succeed. 24 May 10
