Hearts of Oak's hopes of landing the MTN FA Cup to make up for a torrid premiership season crumbled on Sunday following defeat in the quarter-finals.
The Phobians were beaten 5-4 on penalties at the Len Clay Stadium by AshantiGold after the game was tied 2-2 in extra-time.
Mohammed Yakubu put the Miners in front but his Attakora Gyimah equalised for Hearts as both side finished the opening 90 minutes 1-1.
In extra-time, AshantiGold again jumped into the lead through Bernard Akuffo before Gyimah, again leveled up for the Phobians in the closing stage of the match.
But during penalties, the Phobians missed their fourth kick as Samuel Enzemba saw his kick saved, thus ending any hopes of a silverware this season only to leave coach C.K. Akunnor the task of a major rebuilding for next season.
AshantiGold will meet Berekum Chelsea in the semi-finals.
