Ashanti Gold coach C.K Akunnor says his side is "far from" being favourites to win the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League title despite enjoying a staggering start to the season.
The Miners are the only club to record 100 per cent after two games following victories over Wa All Stars and giants Hearts of Oak but the former Ghana captain insists it’s 'too early' to be considered as title favourites.
"It's too early to pick Ashanti Gold as the favourites to lift the Ghana Premier League title. It is very important to start the season on a blistering pace but it's also too easy to lose the focus," Akunnor told Goal.
"Mostly, it's players that we think can become complacent but many coaches are also guilty at times. We want to show much more than we did last season and in the two games played, so I'm working seriously to guide against anything that will push our focus off the road.
"I don't subscribe to the tag that we are the main favourite for the trophy because it's only two games played and there is a possibility also for poor run of former but we're prepared for that too and hope to have an excellent season," he added.
The 2014-15 champions will have another opportunity to widen the gap at the top as they host debutants Karela United FC on Wednesday before making a trip to Fosu Gyeabour Park to face Bechem United on Sunday.
