Soccer miners Ashantigold football club will play as host to their mining partners Medeama sporting club at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium as the Ghana Glo Premier league enters week 9.
Medeama is second on the league table with 14 points whiles Ashantigold is seventh with 12 points. The home side has been quite impressive at home this season and their top marksman, Mohammed Yakubu who became the second highest scorer last season is also lazing his scoring boot and if the defence of Medeama should open up then they will go back to Tarkwa empty handed.
At the Baba Yara Stadium, ‘Porcupine Warriors’ Asante Kotoko fc will welcome neighbours New Edubiase united. The two sides settled for a 1 – 1 drawn game at the same venue last season but the tempo of Edubiase at the time has dropped drastically as compared to that of the depending champions.
Kotoko is fourth on the ladder with 14 points whiles Edubiase is ninth with 10 points. Kotoko’s midfield 3M (Michael Anaba, Michael Kafui Helegbe and Michael Akuffo) will be doing the trick for their two men upfront (Kofi Nti Boakye and Ben Acheampong) to bang in the goals. The Porcupine Warriors are too hot in their quest to defending the crown and they are surely going to pick all the three points at stake knowing that their journey to the central regional capital in the weekend could fall on the ice.
Boogie boys, Amidaus Professionals will play as host to Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak at the Tema Community 3 Park. Amidaus came from behind to draw with Medeama at the Tarkwa T&A Park last weekend to prove that they are in for business.
On the other hand, Hearts recorded their first victory at the Accra Sports Stadium since coach David Duncan took charge of the team and they would like to maintain that feet but playing against Amidaus can be an acid test for the phobians.
Coach Duncan’s goggles should be on where the in form Yahaya Mohammed will be playing. This is because the former Kotoko midfielder has played in all departments of the field (Defence, midfield, Attack) since he joined Amidaus and if Duncan should fail to freeze him then he should forget about picking any point at Tema.
The phobians have climbed to the eighths spot with 11 points whiles Amidaus Professionals are eleventh with 9 points.
League leaders Aduana Stars will welcome struggling King Faisal to the Osahene Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa. Aduana is at the summit of the log with 15 points whiles Alhaji Grunsah’s King Faisal is thirteenth with 8 points.
Since joining Ghana’s elites division four years ago, Aduana has been consistent at their home grounds and with the likes of Godfred Saka still around the home side will be too tough for King Faisal to beat.
Tema Youth will play as guest to the scientific soccer lads, Liberty Professionals at the Alhaji Sly Tetteh Park in Dansoman. Liberty is sixth on the table with 12 points whiles Tema Youth occupies the tenth spot with 10 points.
Interestingly enough both sides lost to the two super powers of Ghana football (Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak) in their last weekend matches and would like to make amends. Liberty looks slightly ahead of Tema Youth in this fixture but Tema Youth are tactically and technically astute and can cause havoc at any of the eight venues at any given time.
Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs will travel up north to battle Real Tamale United at the Tamale Sports Stadium. Dwarfs are enjoying the best of times in the season and the home side should know before the start of the game as they can mesmerize them before their home crowd.
Real Tamale United is at the bottom of the table with just 4 points whiles Ebusua Dwarfs are third with 14 points.
African Champions League campaigners Berekum Chelsea will welcome Kwasi Nyantekyi’s All Stars to the Golden City Park. All Stars have not been impressive this season and playing the wounded Chelsea who suffered their worse defeat since joining the premiership may have too little to prove to the former league champions.
Chelsea has gone down to the fifth spot on the log with 14 points whiles Wa All Stars is fourteenth with 7 points.
However, at the Kpando Park, Hearts of Lions will entertain Berekum Arsenals. Lions are twelfth on the table with 9 points whiles Arsenals are fifteenth with 6 points.
