Ashgold Sporting Club defender Kwadwo Amoako has called on the Ghana Football Association to continue the 2019/20 league season.
The Ghana Football Association has suspended the current league season due to the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus disease.
So far Ghana has recorded 2074 cases of the pandemic with 212 recoveries and 17 deaths.
Speaking exclusively to Kyfilla.com, the former Techiman Eleven Wonders right-back believes it will be premature on the part of the GFA to cancel the league season since most of the administrators have invested a lot in their clubs.
“What I will say is not all of the clubs will want the league to continue but as a player, I will say the league should continue”, Amoako told Kyfilla.com.
“You see, club owners and administrators have spent a lot on their teams and it will not be fair should the league be cancelled.
“Taking my club [Ashgold] from an example, the owners have spent a lot because travelling from Obuasi to Dormaa, Sogakope and even Accra is not an easy trip, you need to spend a lot. They are paying us our monthly salaries despite football activities on hold. I think the league should continue but mechanisms has to be put in place to avoid any havoc”, he added.
