Ashanti Gold CEO Kudjo Fianoo has hailed Lawrence Lartey’s move to South African outfit Ajax Cape Town.
Lartey joined the ABSA Premier League side after signing a two-year deal with the Club having undergone a successful medical on Monday.
The 22-year-old caught the interest of coach Roger De Sa after excelling in his three-weeks trial with the Club. Fianoo who led AshGold to a historic Ghana Premier League title last season is excited about the player’s move to the South African Club.
“I think it is good for him. The reason for his move after all leading a team to win the League after 19 years and leading the team to Africa he would have loved to stay,” he told Starr FM.
“Lawrence thinks that he is ripe for the senior National team but the flip side of it is that he is not featuring internationally so he thinks if he goes out there getting the needed push he could catch the eyes of the National team coach, so I think it is good for him.”
The player was arguably one of the best defenders in the Ghana Premier League last season.
The move could however see him earn a dream call-up to the Black Stars team.
