Ashantigold have reported Equatoguinean side Akonangui F.C to Caf about the maltreatment handed them since they arrived in the country.

The miners are due to play Akonangui FC in the preliminary stage of the Caf Confederations Cup on Sunday.

The miners left Ghana on Wednesday with a 24-man contingent for Sunday's encounter to be staged at the Neuvo Estadio de Ebebiyín in the northeastern town of Ebibeyin.

Ashgold were left stranded at the Malabo airport for hours when they heard from their host they could not travel to the host city which is 335 kilometres (208 miles) from the capital Malabo.

Just as they were about to train on a nearby pitch Ashgold were informed they had to travel to Mongomo a two hour journey.

They finally left Malabo for Mongomo a two-hour journey on bus where they miners have been lodging at the plush Mongomo Hotel.

Ashgold will travel to Ebebiyin the venue for the game tomorrow by bus which is a 40 minute drive.

According to Ashgold CEO Fred Acheampong speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Oyerepa fm, the islanders are doing all they can to frustrate them and they will pay them back when they come for the second leg in Ghana.

“It's like playing an Opponent in Obuasi and you get stranded in Accra.”

“Our opponents and host are refusing to do the necessary arrangements. It looks like they didn't have any plans for us as required by CAF's regulations.”

“I suspect they want to frustrate us but all we can do is to report them to CAF about the maltreatment.”

“This will mean we will also pay them back same way they are treating us.

As we speak ,we making arrangements with local airlines to fly us to Ebebeyin but its not easy with our numbers about 33 to 34 people.

We need to find our way to Ebebeyin because they have refused to answer our calls”he bemoaned
