Tijani Joshua has stated that Sunday 6 September was the most exciting moment of his life, after he helped Ashanti Gold SC to win their first league title in 19 years.
The Miners made their title ambition certain, following a 1-0 win over West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), courtesy Emmanuel Osei’s 72 minute penalty to go 6-points clear on top of the league log, with a game to close the 2014-15 league season.
Tijani Joshua has expressed that yesterday was the happiest day of his life as Ashgold beat WAFA to become champions of the First Capital Plus Premier League.
“During the warm exercise and after seeing the large crowd in the stadium, what I said to myself that we should disappoint the fans and we really made them proud by beating WAFA.
“I have never been happy like yesterday, so it was the happiest moment in my life,” he told Obuasi based Time FM.
Ashgold were the first team to win the Ghana Premier League in the 1993-94 season and added two to make it three straight wins , but have been struggling to win the league title since the 1995-96 season, until yesterday when their long wait came to past.
